Raheem Sterling told Roy Hodgson he was ‘too tired’ to play in England‘s match against Estonia on Sunday night.

The 19-year-old has since been criticised on Twitter by both fans and the media.

Their claim is that the Liverpool forward is too young and too well paid to be suffering from fatigue this early into the Premier League campaign.

And this has clearly irritated Sterling, who has since replied to his Twitter trolls with a post of his own.

Not that this has done anything to stop the abuse…

Sterling came on in the 64th minute and won the game-winning free-kick but was still subject to taunts on social media, which he duly replied to as he began his journey back to Merseyside.

Sterling re-Tweeted a particular message from a disgruntled @Ramen_F, before aiming a cryptic song title Tweet to his critics:


Since Sterling’s Tweet, social media has went into overdrive on the story, with opinion split on whether the teenager’s complaints carry water.
